| Description from source |
Solomon and Babette Isaacson arrived in Melbourne in 1852, travelling around Victoria with the gold rushes. They opened their first draper’s shop in Pleasant Creek in 1857, relocating the business at least seven times around Victoria. This stock register travelled with Solomon and Babette, and shows the transactions of the Isaacson Family Variety Store in Stanwell. Several pages are annotated in Yiddish, the language of Eastern European Jews. |
