Description from source
1 manuscript

Manuscript in German titled 'Spottvogel': Aus einer kleinen Kolonie" containing lighthearted poems relating to the German administration of New Guinea.

Manuscript titled "'Spottvogel': Aus einer kleinen Kolonie". This manuscript is dedicated to Mr P Kolbe in memory of the youthful struggling periods in New Guinea between 1903 and 1904. The author who describes himself in the poems as a young colonial public servant from Baden with the low rank of assessor was most likely Friedrich Mannhardt whose printed poem about the Colony with the title "Der Spottvogel in Herbertshohe" is attached to the volume. The poems are in light vein and contain a considerable amount of humourous - rude criticism of the German administration of the time.
