Abstract |
Extensive letter in Dutch by one of the readers of the Dutch East Indies newspaper. In this letter, the writer described the permit for Queenland sugar cane companies to recruit Javanese workers. The writer is worried that, in the future, Australia would recruit more Javanese contract workers, which would potentially harm other Netherlands indies' industries, He is also concerned about the treatment of Javanese contract workers in Australia, as the Australians have a reputation of being rough to labourers. And that the Javanese would not feel at home in Australia.
