MS Acc10.059 comprises a 436-page monograph in Italian on Captain James Cook's three voyages. Based on the Paris edition of Jean Baptiste Antoine Suard's translation of Cook's A voyage towards the South Pole, and round the world. Consists of title page, four-page note to the reader, five-page introduction, chapters on each of Cook's voyages, and a "Note del compilatore questo saggio". In the final chapter Bertacchi gives his own notes on the voyages and subsequent history in the Pacific, making reference to a wide range of other sources, and including discussions of the voyages of Malaspina, La Perouse and d'Entrecasteaux, which were modelled on those of Cook (1 v.). |
