Abstract	Letter from German prisoner of war, Ernst Schneider, in Trial Bay Internment Camp to Erwin Muller in New York, dated July 31st 1917. Typescript in English on a single quarto sheet of ruled paper with printed letterhead 'Concentration Camps Australia Prisoner of War Letter'. Accompanied by original envelope with printed header, 'Service Des Prisonniers De Guerre', and stamped 'Prisoner of War Letter Free', 'Passed by Censor S.D.' and 'Lieut Col German Concentration Camps, Liverpool, N.S.W.' The high level of English language proficiency in the letter suggests that Schneider was very well educated and that he had perhaps lived for a number of years in either Australia or the United States.
